LESLIE TALKS: Genetics vs LIFESTYLE

A recent study, published in the journal BMJ Evidenced Based Medicine, has provided compelling evidence for the role of healthy lifestyle choices in mitigating the negative influence of genetic factors. This research tracked the health of an impressive 353,742 participants over 13 years. Categorising individuals based on both genetic risk and lifestyle factors, they unravelled the complex interplay of such variables and their impact on lifespan integrity.

Notably, they found that those with unfavourable lifestyle choices were 78% more likely to die prematurely than those with a healthy lifestyle, regardless of their genetic profile. Furthermore, those with a combination of poor lifestyle factors and high-risk genetic predisposition had double the risk of shortening their lifespan compared to those with healthy habits and favourable genetics.

This powerful study underscores the fact that your longevity is not predetermined. By consistently prioritizing and optimizing your lifestyle habits you can take control and live a longer, healthier life.
