Leslie Talks: Improve Alzheimer’s symptoms with lifestyle changes

For today's latest in longevity, there has been exciting developments in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.

A recent study published in Alzheimer's Research and Therapy investigated the effects of intensive lifestyle interventions on symptoms of early stage Alzheimer's disease. They evidenced that a combination of lifestyle changes, including a plant-based diet, exercise, stress management, and support groups, has potential to improve cognitive function in people with early-stage Alzheimer’s. The study employed a 20-week intervention compared to a control group, with the intervention group specifically showing significant improvement across varying cognitive assessments. Interestingly, in addition to cognitive benefits, their gut microbiome configuration along with clinically relevant biomarkers of the disease showed significant improvement compared to the control group.

These findings highlight the power of focusing on lifestyle changes to enhance both brain function and gut health, preventing onset or progression of age-related diseases like Alzheimer's.
